What Causes Sarcoidosis Of Gallbladder?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Apr 2015
Question: Hi Iam asking to write what are the chances of sarcoidosis affecting the gallbladder. I have sarcoidosis in the lungs, stomach, liver, and small intestine and are looking for it possibly in the colon. My gallbladder shows that its not draining properly and the wall is thickened pretty bad and are calling it diseased but my gastro dr is thinking it could possibly being affected by sarcoid. Is that often and if so how can they tell if it is. Iam 27 and am 5'7" and 170lbs if that helps. I have had the sarcoidosis for 4 years now and has still spread even with treatment. And what would be the best treatment for the gallbladder as it causes severe pain but they say they wont remove it unless it gets infected. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Possible but very rare

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM. Sorry about your difficulties.
Sarcoidosis of gallbladder is possible but very rare manifestation of sarcoidosis and there are only few reported cases. ALthough, in cases where diseases is more progresses, it is more likley that gallbladder is involved too.
But at this point, it is more likely that this is gallbladder stone or motility disorder and sarcoidosis is last thing to think of. YOu should do HIDA scan and CT scan of gallbladder.
In cases of any pathology, it should be removed surgically, laparoscopically if possible.
Wish you good health. Regards
