What Causes Recurrent Pustular Lesion In The Groin Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: I have what a doctor many years ago described as a pus sac. It is in my pubic area and near to the groin. I have had it for years and it would very occassionally fill with a yellow pus and would drain easily after a small hard lump appeared and I squeased it. Now however there is no lump or pus but the area gets very smelly every few days. I wash with extra care but the smell keeps coming back. There is nothing to see apart from what looks like a pin
Prick. There is no yellow pus, just the smell. Could liquid be draining from it? How can I get rid of it as I'm afraid that others might smell it even though I'm really careful to clean the area daily. I have always showered daily too.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Pilonidal Sinus needs to be considered

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms

Going by description of your symptoms of recurrent pustular lesion in the groin area , possibility of Pilonidal Sinus needs to be considered. Exact diagnosis will however depend on clinical examination. It would be very helpful if you could provide me with clinical photograph for further assessment.

In the meantime I would suggest you the following

1. Hot Seitz bath : To a tub of lukewarm water add 2 spoons of common table salt. Sit in it for 15 to 20 minutes each session twice a day. The warmthnes will help relieve inflammation.

Wear only thoroughly washed cotton inner wear

Awaiting your response

Take care
