What Causes Prominent Veins On Arm?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: This has been present for some time but my aunts are bugging me to get it checked.
I a a 20 year old female, at the underweight to acceptable range. My veins are prominent on the underside of the arm -- not those just below the wrist -- they pop up halfway on my arm, run along my elbow, and stop about 2 inches below it. It doesn't bother me, but when people deliberately press on the bulging green veins, it hurts.
(1) Is it common? Should I get it checked? (2) What are the possible reasons for it?

Brief Answer:
hi

Detailed Answer:
It is common especially in females and it isn't indicating anything serious in most cases. Some people simply have more prominent veins which may break easily. Less common it can be sign of certain hematologic disease but you would have some other symptoms. So I don't think you need to worry.you can do Doppler ultrasound and check coagulation factors in future . Wish you good health.
