What Causes Positive Widal Test Even After Using Antibiotics?

Question: Hard fever for a week met the doctor and did widal test typhi o was positive....hadmedication for a week did widal test again now paratyphi is positive all the others are negative ...what is the reason n what medication should I have...is the serious by any chance

Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX Thanks for writing to HCM You shouldn't worry.Antibodies detected in widal test persists for quite some time after the illness and it take time to disappear.Duration varies with different individual. It has no clinical significance in follow up and it may cause false positive results in further febrile illness. It is important to know about your present clinical condition whether you have fever or not. You should take care of personal hygiene.Wash your hands properly with soap and water after going to the toilet because bacteria may be excreted through stool for some time. Get well soon.
