What Causes Pinching Pain In Abdomen, fatigue And Heavy Periods?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 May 2014
Question: I am a 40 year old female who gets a sharp pinching pain in the lower left side of the abdomen when I cough or sit up from lying down. It only pinches momentarily and the pain stops. But when it happens it is sharp and makes me hold my abdomen. It is to the left of the hip bone near where I would guess my ovaries are.

Other symptoms include distended abdomen, swollen ankles, fatigue, heavy periods that come 3 vs 4 weeks apart. Cold sweats, chills, chronic low temperatute around 95.5-96.5.

Brief Answer:
It is best you do another check up

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query,

It is best you get another medical check up(including a pelvic scan). I am come across many situations where a simple ovarian cyst quickly evolves to a giant complex cyst within some few weeks and since you have had a history of ovarian cyst, it is best you get reevaluated for pelvic masses. The symptoms you are describing can be summarized as paraneoplasic syndrome which could be indicative of a tumoral process going on. It could be a cyst or an ovarian tumor/cancer.
You also need to get your kidneys evaluated for stones.
Generally, when there is pain, it always almost indicates that there is a malfunction somewhere and it is best to indicate (especially when associated to other symptoms such as the ones you have presented).
Your situation clearly merits another medical evaluation as soon as possible.

Hope this helps and wish you the best.
