What Causes Persistent Headache And Dizziness In A Teenager?

Posted on Mon, 9 Nov 2015
Question: Hi I have a 15 year old who is felling lightheaded and a little headache going on. He said this happened one day last week at school as well in class. He says he can focus and and concentrate on his work, but just doesn't feel good. The last 2 weeks we have him to dr for sick stomach, headache, etc which all this usually happens first thing in the morning. His best friend of 14 years is getting ready to move away, he has started a new semester at school and the doctor said for him to take a relaxer pill every night before bed for 2 weeks. It seemed to help a little all last week but of course today is Monday, lol! He hasn't been drinking alot of water lately at all, he had an energy drink as well Mt Dews yesterday. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for listening!

Brief Answer:
He may be having anxiety and fear. Give clonazepam and propranolol

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I can understand your concerns. It appears that this may all be due to anxiety becauae of two things one gis best friend is moving away and aecond next semester is to be started. So I will suggest him to keep cool. I dont know which relaxer pill he is taking. But in my patients with such condition I prescribe a combination of clonazepam and propranolol and I found this very useful in my patients. This combination helps in relieving anxiety and helps in overcoming phobias also. I hope I have answered your query and this will help him. Wish him a good health
