Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The most likely cause for chills and diarrhea is either food poisoning (from bacteria in contaminated food) or a viral gastroenteritis that may be going around in your community.

In both situations, the symptoms are usually transient, lasting a day to just a few days.

She should rest, eat foods that are easy for her to tolerate (bananas, rice, apple sauce toast, soups that are not spicy). Keep well hydrated. If the diarrhea continues, take Pepto Bismol, unless it is contraindicated with any medications she might be taking.

If she develops abdominal pain (not just during episodes of diarrhea), then she should be seen by a doctor, such as at urgent care or ER.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
