Brief Answer:
Use inhalers and steroids

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in HCM

I can understand your concern and i am sorry for her situation.

If she were my patient i would recommend to her to do the following :

Spirometry with bronchodilatators
Pneumoalergens
Chest X Ray

As you explain she has already controlled the heart.

If the above results are positive her doctor will probably prescribe her inhalers with corticosteroids and bronchodilatators (like Seretide ) and oral steroids for up to two weeks with antacid medications for the stomach.
She will feel better again

I wish her a fast recovery

Feel free to ask me again

she has had chest x rays and has been prescribed inhalers the doc told her that there was a little fluid in her lungs but they expected that and the inhalers didn't seem to do much for her although I am not sure what they were they also told her about antacids but neither her or I understand that as she said she doesn't have hart burn or indigestion.

Brief Answer:
cardiac problems cause mainly pleural liquid

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

If there is fluid in the lungs than cardiac ultrasound should be done becouse the usually cause for the liquid is the heart.
Diuretics should be add in her treatment too.
If its not the heart problem than a blood test called Albuminemia, should be check to.
If the result is low it should be given i/v and it is very important to find why it is low.

Talk with her doctor for the above

Wishes
