Question: Yes, my husband is 75. Three weeks ago he had a heart attack and had 3 stents. He woke up this morning with pain on his right back, below ribs, radiating to front right, under ribs. Has taken Aleve, but no help. He has had kidney stone many years ago. Two years ago he had a stern in the renal artery on right side.

Brief Answer:
Can be a stone in the pelvis of right kidney.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query for your husband.
To recapitulate: Male/75 - heart attack - 3 stents - three weeks ago - woke up this morning with pain on his right back - below ribs - radiating to right front under ribs - Aleve not effective - kidney stones in past - stent ? in right renal artery 2 years ago ...
The commonest cause of such a pain can be:
Right sided stones in the pelvis of kidney or ureter causing spasms and pain of pressure in kidney.
Rarely pinching the nerve supplying this particular area.

I would advise you the following>
Please take him to ER.
Needs tests of blood, urine in particular.
Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen to start with.
May need CT scan and other investigations.
certainly cardiac check up as there is recent history of stents in heart.

I hope this answer helps you.
