What Causes Painful Swelling In The Lower Abdomen?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Aug 2017
Question: Yesterday I had a sudden painful swelling in my lower right front abdomen. It was a fairly large oblong and
was extra painful when lightly pressed. I thought I should go to a hospital emergency, so I went inside to get my list of medications to take along. When I sat down at my desk, The a severe pain occurred at the
swelling and continued while I sat. I found my list and got up to go. Amazingly the pain was gone and the
swelling had disappeared. I wasfree of pain the rtest of the day and night. Now the area where the problem occurred is somewhat tender with some pain.

Brief Answer:
can be appendicular swelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, thanks for the query,

I've gone through your description,

Possibility is-
Appendicitis (also let me know in case you're operated earlier for any appendix related issue)-
A pain of this characteristic in the right iliac fossa is one of the most common reasons for consulting at an emergency service, the main initial diagnosis that is considered is appendicitis, the main complication of which is a perforation.

A blockage in the lining of the appendix that results in infection is the likely cause of appendicitis. The bacteria multiply rapidly, causing the appendix to become inflamed, swollen and filled with pus. If not treated promptly, the appendix can rupture. Can present with off and on pain with swelling.

An ultrasound abdomen and urine microscopy test should be done initially to rule out the exact cause.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
