Question: Good morning

I asked a question 5 days ago and I have a follow up.

Since then I have developed a nasty cold that seems to be aggravating my stomach issues. Also, after 5 days of taking omeprazole I still have no relief. This morning I woke out this the stabbing pain in my left side again and between my shoulder blades. can you please help provide any clarification whether these systems are connected

Brief Answer:
Splenic, pleural/musculoskeletal disease suspected

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

Gastritis is indeed the first and common cause of pain on left side of abdomen.
However, since the symptoms have not relived despite a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), other possibilities have to be looked for.
The pain could be due to some spleen pathology, pleural pathology, musculoskeletal pain to name a few possibilities.
I suggest you to get an ultrasound abdomen to assess the status of spleen and other organs.
An assessment of the chest is also required so a X-ray chest can be done.
Consult your primary healthcare provider for prescription of these investigations.

Thus, I suggest you to get these tests done and then post the results on the forum.

Thanks and take care
