While lower urinary tract infections (bladder) can be treated at home with drinking lots of water, cranberry juice, and pain relievers such as Ural, if the infection moves up into the kidneys (pyelonephritis), this is more serious and you need an antibiotic.
You should go into a clinic where you can give a urine specimen. It is important to give a urine specimen to be sent to a lab for "culture and sensitivity" before you are started on an antibiotic. While you start the antibiotic, the lab will culture the urine and see what bacteria grows. Then they can run a sensitivity test where they try different antibiotics against the cultured bacteria to see what the bacteria are sensitive (or resistant) to.
This test is important with simple UTIs, but is truly imperative with pyelonephritis. Because - the doctor will start you on an antibiotic right away while they do this culture, and if the antibiotic is not one that the bacteria are the most sensitive to, the doctor can then switch you to one that is the most effective based on the culture/sensitivity.
So do go in to a clinic now. You will feel better soon.
