What Causes Pain Below Sternum Along With Bloating?
Question: I am post cabg almost10 months. Have been under tremendous stress lately. Blood Pressure very high and eratic.
Also in last month stomach has become very bloated. To the point that I can hardly eat. Also have fairly severe abdominal pain below sternum.

Pain below the sternum, bloating and early satiety suggest the possibility of Acid peptic disease as the underlying cause.
I would suggest you the following
1. Ensure good intake of water : 2 to 3 liter a day
2. Avoid skipping meals
3. Avoid carbonated / alcohol / caffeinated beverage
4. Avoid sleeping immediately after eating or drinking
5. Acid Suppressant like Pantoprozole which is available as over the counter medication will be helpful
6. Liquid antacidcontaining Simethicone which is available as over the counter medication will be helpful
If the symptoms persist even after 2 weeks of religiously trying these suggestions then you will require further assessment by Gastroscopy in consultation with your Physician.
