What Causes Pain And Discomfort In Knee?
I have very little pain/discomfort/tiredness around the left knee. Sometimes I feel this pain in the thigh and sometimes I feel it in the back of the knee/thigh. When I bend my knee for long time I fell like numbness and discomfort.
I used to go to the gym before I get this pain may be 2 months before. I was taking Xatral 10mg for prostate. The doctor prescribed me Xatral for a month and after 2 weeks from talking Xatral this pain started. Now I stopped Xatral a month ago and I still have this pain.
I went to a specialist who asked for uric acid and the result was normal and X-ray for the knee then he said everything is fine and prescribed Arcoxia 120 for a week. Now I finished Arcoxia and I still have the pain then he gave me muscle relaxant drug and I feel no difference.
Please note that it is not severe pain it is just discomfort that I feel.
I have no problem when I am walking.
In the morning is a lot less.
I went to the gym yesterday and used treadmill for 50 minutes with different speeds (5-8) and cycling for 10 minutes and I am fine the situation is the same.
Most of the time I cannot pinpoint the exact location of the pain.Sometimes feel this behind the thigh.
Is this muscle pain or what exactly and what I do?
I do feel very very little in the other leg but I forget it because it is nothing.
Please help.
Due to decreased joint lubricants or inflammation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
At your age, the pain and discomfort in the knee and thigh is likely to be due to stress related minor capsular inflammation or decrease in the joint lubricants.
This should slowly subside with hot fomentation, proper relaxation and regular exercises to improve mobility of the joint.
Avoid such activities as squatting, kneeling, heavy lifting, climbing, etc.
Adding glucosamine sulfate as supplement after consulting your orthopedician may help in relieving your symptoms.
In case, It does not subside on its own or it is associated with severe pain, and swelling around the joint it could indicate a tear of one of the ligaments within the knee joint.
You might benefit by consulting your orthopedician who can examine you , and order a Knee MRI to know the exact cause and provide the proper treatment for it.
I hope this answers your query.
