What Causes Nausea, Vomiting, Left-sided Lower Abdomen Pain And Poor Appetite?

default
Posted on Fri, 29 Jul 2016
Question: Hi! For the past week, I have had some stomach pain in my lower left abdomen. Most of the time it happens in the morning, and usually resolves within an hour. However, this morning, I woke up with acute pain, and it has been bothering me for the past two hours. During the week, I've had a decrease in appetite, but no issues in bowel movement or vommiting. I am experiencing nausea, and feeling like I'll vomit, but I never do. The pain just got much worse this morning, and I'm feeling weak. Could this be diverticulitis? If so, should I go to my doctor? I am 18 years old, and I'm not sure if it is diverticulitis. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Its not diverticulitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Diverticulitis is a condition characteristic for elder people. Never heard about this condition in such a young age. So this is not a diverticulitis.
From possible reasons urinary tract infection, ovaries cyst or even pregnancy should be considered.
As it lasts for some time now, you should have it checked. Urine analysis, abdominal ultrasound, blood work and gynecologist consult are advisable. If pregnancy is possible, pregnancy test is also a good idea.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards

Thanks! I should also add that I feel a little bit of gas, but no pain while urinating, nor is there any blood in my urine. I had my period last week, and it was a little more painful than usual (I assumed at first it was cramps, but the pain continued). The pain sort of comes and goes in waves of a few minutes being dull to a few minutes being acute, and so on until it stops. I haven't had sex yet, so I don't think it's pregnancy. Would these details make one of the issues more likely than the other? Thank you so much!

Brief Answer:
Ovaries can be the source of the pain.

Detailed Answer:
This facts make ovaries issue possible. However urinary tract issue should be also ruled out even without mentiined symptoms.
Bloating is very often presen with any abdominal issue.
