Question: Hi, I've found a lump in my groin area. It's appeared in November last year after giving birth to our son. Is this something that I should get checked ASAP? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Yes,it must be examined by a surgeon.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

In a surgical case like a lump,it must have to be examined by a surgeon for its site, size, shape, consistency, overlying skin, temperature etc.

It would be better if you can provide me some details regarding lump for my better diagnostic view.

It could be lipoma, sebaceous cyst, dermoid cyst, lymph node enlargement or hernia etc.

So,as I said earlier it must be inspected by a surgeon to make a clear diagnosis.

Thanks and Regards,

Thank you! It's slightly red, raised and about 1cm long. It's feels like there's a hard lump under my skin. Not red/swollen around the site and no discharge/pus etc. thanks

Brief Answer:
It could be cystic swelling or genital warts.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow-up query,

It is very difficult to say from only description of the lump because a doctor must have to examine it by doing inspection and palpation in order to have a clear diagnosis.

It could be a cystic acne or sebaceous cyst or swollen glands or genital warts or uncommonly hernia.

You should consult general surgeon for detailed history and clinical examination of lump to get it diagnosed.

Treatment is depend upon the underlying cause.

Thanks.
