What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Back Pain After Treating Worm Infestation?

Question: Hello - mild to quite strong lower abdominal pain for several months. Severe and constant today and the severe pain is in my lower back as well now. Had a tapeworm/roundworm/pinworm infestation that was treated with both biltricide and albenza a few months ago but I still seem to be passing what appear to be tapeworm eggpods and perhaps some of the round worms but can't identify tapeworm segments or anymore. However I'm concerned that the abdominal pain is not related to the previous (or perhaps continuing) infestation - perhaps it is and the above treatments were just ineffective. Note that the worms were previously identified visually - lab results were negative even though actual worms and multi-segmented pieces of tapeworms were included in the samples - and I do have some photos as such.

I understand your concern.
It is important to do a histopathological examination on the material you feel are worms or tapeworm segments. The intestinal mucosa gets denuded periodically as a normal process of renewing the lining. These sometimes may appear as worms or segments. A histopathological examination will confirm or exclude the presence of worms. If there are worms these have to be treated appropriately. Otherwise it is only a natural process and nothing needs to be done.
