Posted on Fri, 1 Jul 2016
Question: Hi,
I'm suffering from uticaria from past 1 year. Yesterday I met a allergist. He prescribed Lactogut capsules, winolap, and rcifax 400 tablets. Previous to meeting him I'm having abdomen discomfort for few days and my stools are not normal. I didn't tell doctor about that but i don't know why he suggested rcifax. May be he came to know about that. Today I started taking and I felt loose motion. Is it common or should I have to meet the doctor again.

Brief Answer:
No this is not common to have diarrhea after these drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No, this diarrhea is not common after these drugs.
Actually, these drugs are given in diarrhea.
Rcifex is having rifaximin. It is gut specific antibiotic used for local (gut) bacterial flora.
Lectagut is having probiotic drugs (lactobacillus). This is also used for diarrhea.
So these drugs are used in diarrhea, not causing diarrhea.
So for diarrhea you should meet you doctor again.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
No, these are not due to tablets.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.. No need to worry much. Nothing serious about it.
In my opinion, you are mostly having intestinal infection (mild) which is causing this abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Your should continue drugs prescribed by your doctor. No harm in taking those drugs.
Along with drugs, you should also take plenty of fluids orally and keep your self hydrated.
Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid junk food.
You will mostly improve with all these in 2-3 days.
If not improving after 3 days then consult doctor.
Hope I have solved your query. If you are not having further queries, then please close the conversation and rate my answer.
