What Causes Leg Cramps In A Heart Patient?

Question: Dr Oz , We watch you every day my husband is a heart patient he has 3 and a 5 bypass, pacemaker and difebulator two stints. But lately he has been getting a lot of cramps on his legs. I give him tonic water sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't help.

In case of your husband, probably the leg cramps are unrelated to his heart condition. Nocturnal leg cramps often have an unknown cause but may also occur due to electrolyte imbalance, low potassium or calcium levels in particular. I would insist you to give him juicy fruits like citrus fruits which contain plenty of potassium. Also provide calcium supplementation and see if the situation improves.

I do not think that tonic water would help.
