What Causes Lack Of Bleeding After Taking A-Kare?
Know the procedure & consult treating doctor if needful.
Detailed Answer:
HI xxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for the query under health care magic platform.
I have read your query & understood your concern.
1. A Kare kit is a combo pack of two medicines Mifepristone 200 mg & Misoprostol 4 pills of 200 mg . You have already taken it , & worried about no bleeding. Please know following details about use of the kit.
- The pregnancy is to be diagnosed & confirmed / It should be uterine pregnancy ( not ectopic or tubal )/ the duration of pregnancy should be between 49 to 63 days.
* So consultation of gynecologist is ideal before you use the kit.
- To start with, One pill of Mifepristine 200 mg is taken orally. This medicine separates the pregnancy from uterine cavity
- After 2 days of Mifepristone, 2 pills of Misoprostol are inserted in vagina/ taken orally. In case there is no bleeding within 6 hours , another 2 pills of Misoprostol 200 mg are inserted in vagina/ taken orally.
- Complete abortion usually follows in 24 hours of the second dose.
* Bleeding starts with Misoprostol pills .. which cause contraction of uterus & expel out separated products of conception.
- Doctor's consultation is needful -
* when there is no contraction/ bleeding / abortion after 5 days of starting the treatment.
* when there is profuse bleeding/ incomplete expulsion of products of conception.( a surgical evacuation may be needed in such case.)
* A check up after 14 days of taking the kit.. to confirm complete abortion( USG scan may be needful )/ Prescription of medicines to avoid infection
2. You have not mentioned at what step of the procedure you are.
- May be you have just taken the first pill ( Mifepristone )9 hours back,& expecting bleeding ( which may or may not be present ).
- IN case there is no bleeding after using 2 pills of Misoprostol.,( as decribed before )you are to add two more pills of the drug ( vaginally & orally )
-In case you have no bleeding after taking 800 mg ( 4 pills ) of Misoprostol,You SHOULD consult your doctor for assessment of the cause & further management
