    What causes joints pain while moving?

Question: All my joints hurt when I am moving not while sitting or lying down. But hips hurt a lot when getting into standing position and knees hurt especially when climbing. Elbows & shoulders hurt when lifting. It's really tiring.

Thanks for contacting through Health Care Magic. I have read & understood your problem.
* We use our joints through out our lives for various purposes. To avoid stress / friction in the joint nature has provided a cushioning material .. cartilage over the bony ends of joint.. which acts as a protector/ shock absorber. As the age advances this cartilage gets worn out/ torn leading to friction between bones of joint, creating damage to bones/ stretch/ stress to the ligaments & tendons attached to joint & pain.
Considering your age, this what has happened to you ( It's called osteoarthritis ). Age wise changes are bound to occur, but this can be managed well by different means, please don't worry.
* Management-
1 - To start with you should consult an orthopedic surgeon, get examined, investigated & start with pain medicines to ease your pain.Low levels of nutrients like calcium/ vitamin D would be corrected with supplements & cartilage would be taken care of by Glucosamine / chondroitin
- Local use of pain & inflammation reliving ointments, sprays helps.
- Use of steroids or narcotics is needed when pain is not controlled with normal medication
2.Apart from medication there are different ways to ease your pain.
-Physiotherapy- light exercises for the affected joints with expert advise helps in maintaining the painless movements once pain is treated by medication.
- Swimming & under water exercises help a lot
- Hot or cold compresses / baths
- Joint protection devices help stress to painful joints.
- Change in life style.. avoiding incidences which cause painful activities/
taking help of somebody to lift objects.
3. Reduction of weight- helps by reducing gravity of pain.
Nutritive well balanced, well absorbed diet with sufficient proteins , vitamins, minerals, fibers, plenty of water .. would help your over all health.
4.Avoiding negativity- Any other health problem you have needs to be properly attended to with help of expert. This would prevent accentuation of psychological stress & depression.
Building up positive attitude by mind concentration exercises & raising pain sustaining capacity by mind body techniques is useful.
5. Alternative therapies like acupressure/ acupuncture is helpful in many conditions.
* thus you can see, how one can overcome the joint pains with medication & self management & lead a happy life in spite of natural aging problems.
