default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: Hello Doctor
From last 5-7 days i have noticed 2-3 bumps on the shaft on my penis. I don't know whether it is a pimple or cysts. 5-7 days ago it was very small in size, but now it has grown up and It's bigger than a pimple in size. I feel slight itching on it but not continuously. I have not visited to any doctor till now. I am taking a medicine named "amoxyclav-500 mg" (Amoxycillin and clavulanic acid).
Doctor i need your suggestion
1. Is there anything to worry and do i need to visit any doctor??
2. Am i taking the right medicine??
If i am not taking the right medicine please suggest me the best medicine for this problem. I shall be thankful to you for this

Brief Answer:
They are likely to be Sebaceous Cysts

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have Sebaceous Cysts over shaft of the penis or Boil. However diagnosis can be confirmed only on clinical examination by a qualified General Surgeon or Urologist. You can also upload a clinical image of the lesion here so that I can go through it.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Can you see a small opening at the top of the bump?
2) Is there any discharge from the bump?

The penile is rich in sebaceous glands hence prone to get more sebaceous cyst due to accumulation of sebum beneath the skin.

Normally they fade away without treatment however they need to be treated if increase in size or get infected.

You need to take broad spectrum antibiotic that you are taking now for a period of one week along with anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily.

If problem persists consult qualified General Surgeon for clinical assessment and further treatment .If needed some of them which are bigger may need to get excised in Toto (Completely along with the sac)

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

I can't send you the pictures of the bumps as my camera is not clicking clear images. There is no opening at the top of the bump. I think there has been a discharge from it. I am saying this because 2-3 days ago there was only one bump on the penis shaft but now there is one more bump along with the first one. I think 2nd one appears due to the discharge from first bump. Now both of them have have the same size.
Doctor is it possible that bumps can appear from the discharge of the a bump??
