What Causes Itchy Blisters On The Body After An Insect Bite?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017
Question: Hi. In the span of the past 2 weeks, every insect bite, mosquito or ant, goes from being a tiny red itchy spot to little oozing blisters. I had several just below my waistband that seemed to spread. The itching is unbearable. They are not concentrated to one area. I have a couple of bites on my wrist, one on my ankle, one on the back of my leg as well. We are doing a lot of yard work. I know for a fact that one was an ant bite and several were mosquitoes. I have never had this kind of reaction and have lived in this area all of my life. There is no pain associated with these; nothing neural, just insatiable itching that has led to uncontrollable scratching.

Brief Answer:
Insect bite hypersensitivity reaction, antihistaminic and potent steroid

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic,

I have gone through your complaints as well as reviewed the attached photographs.

These are likely to be due to insect bite hypersensitivity reactions.

If I were your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply a potent topical steroid like Clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg twice daily for 7-10 days.

Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.

This should resolve this reaction.

Dr Asmeet
