What Causes Itching On The Body, Soreness In The Knee Joints And Fatigue?

default
Posted on Thu, 4 May 2017
Question: In December I began having body itching with soreness in knee joints. Blood tests in January indicated possible auto immune issues. Saw Rheumatologist in February and had another series of blood work done. This series showed everything within a "normal" range. I continue to have fatigue, and joint soreness. As I had been in Tortola, BVI I also was tested for parasites which tested negative. After 4 months I am at my wits end as to what may be causing these symptoms.

the only medication I tried was a 14 day prescription of prednazone. Alleviated itching to some degree. Although reduced I still have itching. Different from typical itching like a mosquito bite in that it is almost like a nerve ending firing. If I touch the spot it goes away.

Detailed Answer:
Hello! I have been through your question.

I have seen carefully the attached data , and I think there is no relation with infection diseases.
I need to know if the last lab result are after the treatment with prednazone or not?
Furthermore I have seen the high level of uric acid that I think could have a relation with gout (gouty arthritis) and you should speak with your rheumatologist(I don't know if he has exclude gout and vasculitis).
As well I suggest to meet an allergy specialist and to do skin prick test for allergy.

I hope my answer helps you. Feel free to ask me further.
I wish you a quick recovery.
Regards.

The January lab test was before taking prednazone and the march lab test was after taking 5mg twice daily for 14 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank you writing back in healthcaremagic.
I am sorry for my late response.
I asked for the prednisone because I think that taking this drug can cause a change in the lab result for an autoimmune disease(ANA, anti SMA etc).

So, based on this I suggest to do again these tests at least 1 month after you have stopped taking prednisone.

I hope my answer helps you.
I wish you a quick recovery.
Regards.
