Brief Answer:
FOLLOW THE ADVICE.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

According to information, your sister's clinical presentation is mostly suggestive of Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP). It is quite COMMON in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

Here, I suggest to undergo complete Liver Function Test (LFT) and serum Bile Acid test to confirm the diagnosis. Raised SGPT is one indicator but NOT the confirmatory.

TREATMENT: Drug like Ursodeoxycholic Acid or Cholestyramine is usually given to treat this type of condition. Calamine lotion can be applied over affected area for soothing effect. They are quite effective to reduce intense itching. Kindly, consult with her Obstetrician for complete prescription.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish her good health and successful motherhood.

Regards,
Dr Soumen
