Brief Answer:
Irritation is caused by various causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

Irritation in the eyes is caused by various causes. I need few more details to answer more accurately.

Long duration of irritation of the eye is caused by allergic conjunctivitis or dry eyes. The treatment is by use of antiallergic eye drops or artificial tears eye drops.

Sudden onset of irritation of the eyes associated with redness and discharge of the eyes is caused by infective conjunctivitis and it is treated by use of antibiotic eye drops.

Non specific irritation of the eyes is caused by exposure to dust, smoke, over use of T.V. computer. The treatment is by use of decongestant eye drops and artificial tears eye drops.

Please do reply for the following questions, so that I can answer your question and solve your problem more accurately.

Duration of irritation?
Do you redness, watering, discharge, itching of the eyes?

It is good that you have washed the eyes with cold water, if irritation is still persisting you can use artificial tears eye drops like refresh tears eye drops.
If the symptoms continue do give more details as I had asked so that I can answer your problem.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards.

The problem started yesterday, while playing on field. It was very windy and dust blowing around. The dust went in both the eyes and i rubbed it. It wasn't that irritating yesterday. When i came home in evening, i washed my eyes with water poured drops of rosewater....after that went to sleep. Today morning , irritating persisted with bloodred left eye and liquid flow from eye and left nose. Just returned from pharmacy and put 2 drops of: Ciplox D....pls advise...

Brief Answer:
Ciplox D eye drops should not be used.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the details.

The presence of red eyes and discharge indicates eye infection following fall of dust particle or retention of the dust particle.
Ciplox D eye drops contains ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic and dexamethasone, a steroid. Steroids should be avoided as they can increase eye infection. Hence stop using ciplox D eye drops.

Instead of Ciplox D eye drops use plain antibiotic eye drops like Ciplox or Moxiflox without steroid combination. You can repeat eye wash with clean water.

If the irritation still persists and redness of eyes increase it indicates presence of dust particle inside the eye and it needs to be removed. As retained dust particles can cause eye infection, it needs to be removed at the earliest.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for removal of the dust particle if present in the eye after examination.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
