Brief Answer:
Yes you can consult a neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thanks for writing in to us at hcm.
This is Dr.Riyanka and I am glad to be helping you with your query.

I have gone through your complaints. It is quite likely that you must be experiencing a headache due to the pain receptors being stimulated on eating cold items i.e; known as "cold stimulus headache or ice cream headache" in common words.

In this condition the moment cold drinks or cold food items touch the hard palate or roof of the mouth , the pain receptors get stimulated and a nerve response is generated causing rapid constriction blood vessels , thus leading to a Headache. This usually is more when the cold item is consumed quickly rather than slowly.

Such headaches have been associated to be like migraines.

I suggest kindly consult a neurologist for thorough clinical examination of the nervous system to rule out other causes.

Such headaches can be relieved by :
1. Drinking warm water after consuming cold items.
2. Pressing the tongue angainst the roof of the mouth and massage it to warm it
up.
3. Try to avoid eating or drinking very cold items.
4. By tilting the head backwards for about half a minute.
5. If such manoevers dont work you may need to take a tablet paracetamol 500mg to relieve the pain.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .
Do write back if you have any further doubts.
