What Causes High BP, Pins And Needles Feeling In Feet And Palms?

default
Posted on Thu, 1 Oct 2015
Question: I'm 32 weeks & I have many symptoms of Pre-E. My doctor knows about them, and is not worried due to me never having too high blood pressure. My blood pressure will be 'boderline' sometimes, and go down. Which is good.
But, for the past three days I've been feeling the needles feeling in my feet and palms, and itchiness at night! I know that's associated with ICP, but when I google it, it starts bringing up liver problems. And I know liver problems can be associated with Pre-E.
I hate worrying over everything, but I just feel something is off. I talk to my husband about it & he deems me as over dramatic. I talk to my mom about it sometimes (she's a nurse) and she just says "well I sure don't know" to like, everything I ask. So whatever. Is this symptom normal through pregnancy?

Brief Answer:
Don't worry so much because you haven't preeclampsia

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your query.

I understand your concern but don't worry so much, because having only borderline blood pressure, doesn't mean that you have preeclampsia.

DEFINITION OF PREECLAMPSIA is: high blood pressure and a high level of protein in the urine.
Did you have proteins in urine in the last urinalysis ?
What value was blood pressure?

Needles feeling in your feet and palms with itching at nights aren't sign of preeclampsia ,but they are sign of pregnancy (your skin is stretched due to increasing body mass or swelling ,that is normal in the third trimester of pregnancy)but doesn't mean that your have liver problems?

If you was my patient,I would suggest to be calm and monitor your blood pressure for ten days in a row and have a urinalysis done to exclude proteins in urine.
If both with be fine there is nothing to worry.
If blood pressure will be high and your urine will be clear of proteins ,than you are predisposed to have only isolated high blood pressure or gestational hypertension.

All the best

Thank you. That puts my mind at ease to have a second opinion. And as for the protein in my urine, I haven't had a urine sample done in a while (due to not having my appointment yet) i have noticed for about a week or so that my urine has been foamy. Bubbles at the top. I'm not dehydrated. I called my doctor and she seemed to not be concerned, so that made me worry a lot less. I guess I need to quit googling symptoms. Because, when I looked up foamy urine, a lot of pages said it was proteins. Is this true?

Oh, and the other day when I checked my blood pressure it was 133/93. I checked it again a few hours later and it was 127/92. Sorry, I forgot to add that part.

Brief Answer:
Have patience until the next appointment because there is nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again !

Bubbles in urine during Pregnancy ,doesn't mean that you have proteins in urine .
During pregnancy some women experience kidney enlargement.
This enlargement can result in urine that bubbles.
Proteins in urine can be confirmed only by doing a urinalysis.
Hence be patience until the next appointment.

Those value of blood pressure aren't high ,they are on the XXXXXXX normal range .

Please stop googling because you can stress your self and this can damage you .

All the best
