Brief Answer:
No chances for pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

the period comes 14 days after ovulation. The ovum is fertile for 24 hours (maximum) after ovulation. This means that having sex almost two weeks later bears no chances for pregnancy. A heavy period with clots is not a sign of pregnancy. If you'd like to be absolutely certain you can measure your blood beta chorionic gonadotropin 2-3 weeks after "conceiving". If you find a high value then this is probably a pregnancy. This is just in theory though, because I've explained to you why it won't happen.

I hope I've helped!

Brief Answer:
You should try during the fertile days

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

if you're having a relatively regular cycle then you should try calculating the fertile days. Take into account that the ovum lives for 24 hours and that the first day of your period comes 14 days after ovulation. Also keep in mind that the sperm may live for up to 5 days (but could be less), which means that there is a limited amount of time that conception is possible.

A good strategy would be to start trying one week after your period and continue every second day until about a week to your next period (estimated of course).

If doing so won't get you pregnant in the next 6-12 months then perhaps you should consult a specialist to check both you and your husband for medical issues you may have. Don't loose hope! Getting pregnant is not always as easy as it may seem.

Good Luck!

Brief Answer:
Keep trying...

Detailed Answer:
You should keep trying. Keeping track of your periods helps you calculate the ovulation date more accurately. Most specialists won't accept there is a medical problem in couples that haven't been trying for at least 1 year, unless the woman's age calls for faster action (>35 years).

So it's up to you (both of you) at this point. Specialists usually advise couples to try for at least 1 year. If you can't wait that long, you can contact a specialist to conduct tests to both you and your husband.

yes, I have kept track of both periods, ovulation, cycle length and all, I have all of the information for last seven months

Brief Answer:
So it's your decision...

Detailed Answer:
OK. Then you can predict with a satisfactory accuracy your next ovulation date.
So after these 7 months you should know whether you had sex on your fertile days or not. If you did everything right and still failed to get pregnant, you can continue trying for a while (another 5 months) or you can visit the specialist.

Of course I assume that you're living a healthy life (no alcohol, drugs etc) and have no medical history. If my assumption is wrong, please give me the details.

Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
Smoking does not help

Detailed Answer:
Smoking lowers your chances. It's not that vital though. Just try to remember that most couple don't get pregnant right away. Even if you do everything right then you have a 20-25% chance of conceiving and 85% of couples achieve conception after the 1st year.
Sperm mobility can be affected by staying in the body for too much time. More than 5 days without sex, will lead to a less vivid sperm. Having sex every two days seems to be the best strategy if your husband can find the time.
