What Causes Headache And Cough After Perspiration Of Bad And Strong Odor?
Question: Hi
My husband has been struck down with this strange affliction
he smells this strong rotting gassy smell in his nose it makes him cough and gives him headaches
he has had all sorts of tests he has been to an ENT had a gastroscopy sinuses checked MRI Chest Xrays
All negative he doesnt know where to turn
Please help

This is a condition called parosmia. It happens due to damage to the nerves in nose which carry the sense of smell. It can happen due to respiratory infections, trauma or neurologic disorders.
Here, as all causes have been ruled out, it is possibly due to an earlier infection which damaged the nerves. Unfortunately, this is a difficult scenario and no specific treatment is available.
But fortunately, many patients improve with time. I sincerely hope that this is the case with your husband.

Is there any other tests that can be performed that will identify this problem
because it is getting him very anxious and frustrated the cough is the worst as when this smell happens his eyes are also affected
should he get a colonoscopy he had one 2 years ago

colonoscopy, if normal should be repeated in 5-10 years. No benefit of more frequent testing.
