Brief Answer:
It could be Lipoma .

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it could be Lipoma, swelling arising from fat tissue.
If it is large,I prefer to do FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology ) of the swelling for a clue.If it is small,I remove the entire swelling and send it for histopathological examination (Biopsy).Exact diagnosis will be confirmed by Biopsy.
For pain, you can take pain killers. As the swelling is causing pain,it has to be removed.
Please consult your doctor and proceed further.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
Regards
