Question: I have been experiencing the surface of my tongue cracking with deep painful fissures near thr distal third.
Sometimes the surface appears white & chalky . Could this be an indication of anything?

Brief Answer:
Not a cause for concern

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Geographic tongue, also known as benign migratory glossitis (BMG). This harmless condition is not indicative of something serious and often shows up along with fissured tongue. It may cause no symptoms other than sensitivity to hot and spicy foods.
