What Causes Feeling Of Something In Eye After Cataract Surgery?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Feb 2015
Question: My mother had cataract surgery yesterday. This morning when she woke up she said it felt like there was something in her eye, and it won't stop tearing. I looked at it with a magnifying glass, and it appears to look fine, but truthfully, I don't know what I'm supposed to see. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
These symptoms will subside no need to be worried.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
The symptoms of watering and irritation on the first post operative day after cataract surgery is common and it is because of inflammation caused by surgery.
No need to be worried about this this will subside over 3-5 days.
If her vision is fine then no need to be worried at all.
She needs to use eye drops as advised and she will be fine. After cataract surgery antibiotic- steroid eye drops and non steroidal antiinflammatory eye drops are required to be used for 4-6 weeks.

Do send me the details of medications she is using and if possible photo of the eye so that I can advice more accurately.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
