What Causes Extremely Painful Uterine Contractions After Sexual Activity?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I have extremely painful uterine contractions following any kind of sexual activity. I was told by a doctor years ago that this is normal, but it's gotten much worse, to the point where it's blinding, dizzying pain. The same contractions follow bowel movements, and often start when I exercise as well. The pain is unmanageable once it begins. I have a very high pain threshold, but this is too much. In terms of history, I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia many years ago, but my last pap test showed no sign of it (according to that same doctor).

Also, I should add that this has been going on for several years, and in terms of sexual activity, it happens every single time, regardless of penetration, etc.

Brief Answer:
Endometriosis needs to be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about pain after sexual intercourse.

This pain is likely to be from a condition called endometriosis of ovaries.

Endometriosis typically presents with the complaints you described. These are unlikely to be uterine contractions.

I suggest you get an ultrasound scan done to check for ovarian endometriosis. If there is one, it needs to be removed.
