Question: I am a 64 year old male and I woke up this morning perspiring all over (feeling clammy) and mildly dizzy. What might be the cause of this? I have had no heart problems to date.

Single episode, not to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Looking at the clinical symptoms and current query, my opinion is as follows:

1. As you have no fever, I am at present not suspecting any infection.

2. If it repeats again, we need to rule out night sweats. One off episode, not to worry.

3. Due to heavy perspiration, you had lost fluids, which led to mild dizziness. Take good amount of fluids and your dizziness will disappear.

Night sweats has numerous causes, however repeat episodes are necessary. It can be due to medications, hormonal variations, andropause or even infections. However, repeat episodes is necessary.

One off episode, maybe due to bad dream and need not be worried about.

Any further queries, happy to help again.
Take care.
