Posted on Fri, 11 Nov 2016
Question: I am on meds for mood disorder and GAD. I have not been 100% well, it is a roller coaster.
I am on 1800 mg of Trileptal, 200 Seroquel, 1 mg ativan and 300 Gabenpentin. COuld this be too many meds and nothing to bring me up. I have been crying a lot after feeling better for 2 months

Brief Answer:
Please describe details of your symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your voncerns.

Although there are two mefications for treatment of mood disorder but I do not see any medication for GAD except ativan. Crying episodes can be caused by poor response to medication.

It will be better if you can narrate the symptoms in chronological order and response to different medications till date. I understand it will be difficult to narrate so much details but it will give me an overview to interpret things in proper manner and suggest accordingly.

It is also requsted to mention current symptoms which you are facing these days.

I look forward to get more details.
Thanks and regards.

Dear Dr,

I have had episodes for 40 years but they only lasted 3 months and my life was back to normal. This one started in February and I was home every night on my couch for 180 nights. I started doing well in Aug/Sept. My mom recently went to assisted living at age 86 and that also bothered me. I have to grown daughters.. One is in England and one is in Connecticut, I was divorced twice and the last one, my husband was a lawyer and sex addict going to two rehabs. I loved him but we had too much therapy and I think they ruined our marriage. I still think I am grieving the marriage. I worked as a church organist (pipe organ) for 25 years. I now play the flute in churches. I have a lot of fear and live alone. My husband is supporting me for the next 8 years. Would homeopathic meds help this condition. I have tried every modality of therapy like therapist, EMDR, yoga, neurofeedback. I have a chance to see a Nurse Practioner Nov, 7 or wait for a new Dr Dec. 5.. I see my Dr on Nov. 3 but I am sensitive to meds and it affects sleep, would lexapro help since it has before. My sister takes Lithium, Celaxa and Wellburtrin.. This is a family disease with all sisters taking meds

Brief Answer:
I think lexapro and celexa both can work

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me with vital details.

What I can infer from the available history that it was recurrent disorder and every episode lasted for few months. During the recent time there were major events in life and this episode is not going despite nine months except having better feeling around two three months back.

In my view it will be better to add antidepressant as the major concern is crying episodes along with major stressors in recent time. Since lexapro has worked for you and celexa is working for your sister I feel both options are there for you to try.

Regarding your query while meeting your doctor please discuss the issues with him. It is also important to discuss the medication options. I feel pregabalin can be lowered as it has little role in mood disorder.

I hope this assists you.
