Brief Answer:
Ocd is treatable.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for your query,

OCD is a chronic psychiatric and like other illness very effective treatment available for this. Contamination symptoms in OCD (lead to excess washing) are very common.

Such cases need long term treatment. Depending on availability combined treatment in form of prescription medicines (Like Fluvoxamine and Fluoxetine) and counseling treatment in form of exposure & response prevention best for this condition. As medicines are prescription medicines, so for treatment you need to meet nearby psychiatrist. If you are in XXXXXXX you can consult me personally in XXXXXXX

Usually improvement comes after 3-6 weeks of starting treatment. If patient do not improve with initial treatment then medication doses need to increase or changed. Most patients improve significantly after regular treatment.

Take care

My case is very severe now. I wash my hands for 5-6 hours a day, take too hours in taking bath and it has to be with Dettol soap only. And I want others also to wash with dettol soap else I don't consider them clean. I don't like touching anyone or anyone touching my things. No matter how hard I try, I can't stop myself. I even wash my things like charger, headset, keys, lock and even phone. I don't find myself at ease at anytime. I avoid going to anyone's place or prefer no one should come to mine. It's affecting my everything, work, personal life. I will definitely take a treatment but right now out of town. Will take an appointment for next weekend. Please let me know if you do CBT alongwith medication. Also, just to bring to your notice, all my these problems are related to periods.
