At 67 years, many patients have
erectile dysfunction and most probably at this age the common cause is organic and age related. Its very unlikely that the cause could be functional.
Viagra (
sildenafil) is a good option for such illnesses. Mostly the psychiatrists start at 25mg and then stop. However if its not effective then the dosages upto 100mg should be used before discarding it as ineffective.
If it is still not effective then a penile doppler should be done after injection of a drug which causes penile erection. That assesses the capacity of the penis to get erect.
Lastly the antihypertensive can be changed. Manytimes its the anti-hypertensive that cause erectile dysfunction as an
adverse drug reaction.
