default
Posted on Fri, 9 Dec 2016
Question: I have family member (65 yr) who takes take 750 mg Robaxin 2 or 3 x day for chronic pain post 4 major spine surgeries. She is drowsy, sometimes lethargic, has severe headaches diagnosised as mixed migranes (titanium in spine at C3 and/or cervical nerve damage presumed), family ALSO observes involuntary eye movements and memory decline and decline in cognitive processing. She also occasionally takes 5 mg or oxy and q night has one or two glasses of wine. Could these symptoms be related to Robaxin, maybe over medication?

Brief Answer:
Side effects of Robaxin, alcohol needs to be stopped.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

It is true that side effects of Robaxin (Methocarbamol) use include drowsiness, memory and cognitive issues, involuntary eyes movements.

However, the dose of Robaxin is normal and we cannot say that there is over medication.

This drug shouldn't be used together with alcohol because simultaneous use is found to increased side effects of Robaxin.

I suggest that Robaxin to be used for a while without alcohol intake and let's see how it is going.

If these side effects persist after few weeks and symptoms are bothersome, change to another drug to control the pain could be necessary.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
