What Causes Dizziness And Fatigue While On Lamictal And Diazepam?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jun 2017
Question: I'm taking Lamictal 400mg b.d, Ritalin 70mg daily, and Diazepam 2-4mg daily. I have been getting dizzy spells where everything around me feels surreal. I sometimes get cold, shaky, and extremely tired; i'll have bouts of sudden fatigue all of a sudden. Sometimes, my cognative function is not all there. I get confused and don't know where I am, or what i am doing; maybe autopilot is the best way to describe. Anyway, it is really freaking me out. I suffer anxiety, but usuallu can diferentiate between that, and this.

Brief Answer:
Blood sugar levels need to be measured.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It is possible that you are intermittently getting hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. This can alternate with high blood sugar levels. I would insist you to get both your blood sugar and blood pressure checked. A fasting as well as post prandial blood sugar as well as blood for HbA1c level should be the first step to get the blood sugar levels monitored.

You can also discuss with your psychiatrist about the mentioned symptoms. He can make suitable modifications in the drug regimen or can make dose adjustments. You can observe thereafter if the condition improves.

Let me know if I could help further.

Hi, thanks for the reply. My doc did suggest this also. I have not had any family members with the same problem, so i'm wondering as to why i would get them.
Does this form cover all bases? The las doctors response indicated I may require electrolyte, sodium, d3, and b12 testing, do you agree?

Brief Answer:
Your doctor is right

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Doctors usually proceed step by step. Instead of suggesting a long list of tests it is better to go for select ones and only go for certain others only if the previous ones indicate. Your doctor is right about the prospects of the requirements for the mentioned tests. I agree.
