Question: Do descending IGG scores for Herpes mean anything. I got equivocal, then 2.05 and today, the doctor told me my level was at about 1.69? What are the odds that WB would yield a favorable result.

Here's my recent sexual history:

I'm thinking about following up with a Western Blot test to confirm but I wanted to follow up. Is it possible to have sensations without outbreaks? I have not had an outbreak but get weird sensations. Are they herpes related?

The reason I ask is because I've heard that some people who carry the virus don't even know they have it. As someone who may be potentially recently infected, am I missing the tale tell tell signs?

Also, theoretically, if my values are "equivocal," 2.05 and 1.69 less than three months after the last sexual encounter, that means a better chance for a false positive, right?

I just don't want to get my hopes to high up.

Brief Answer:
Many people may have sub clinical infection without sign or symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Your findings suggests that in the past you may had exposure to herpes but didn't manifested signs and symptoms at that time also. This is commonly found in many persons who have past exposure. These are sub clinical infection and it is commonly seen. There is nothing to be worried about this condition.

Your findings suggests borderline value of past infection and that too is decreasing. This shouldn't be a matter of concern.

Thanks Doc.,

I'm just unsettled by the equivocal and low positives less than four months after exposure.

Given that three sessions were protected with no noticeable symptoms and one oral, should I not pursue the Western Blot? Is it not more than likely that it's a false positive?

Thanks.
