What Causes Depression Post A Cortisone Shot?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Jun 2017
Question: I had a cortisone injection in my hip a week ago. The injection (done in a hospital) was excruciatingly painful, I was nearly screaming in pain both during and afterwards. The injection site is still aching and I am extremely depressed. NONE of the proposed pain relief has occurred and i am extremely reluctant to go back to my doctor. I am too scared. Is this a normal reaction?

Brief Answer:
Not a normal reaction. Pain should not last more then 2 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

That is not a normal reaction. The pain after the injection is slightly higher for one day or two, but not for one week. One the other side, it is not normal that even the medicines you are taking are not helping.

I will suggest though that you go to the doctor, because he should examine you and try to understand what has gone wrong. He will surely not cause you anymore pain, but will help you by switching the plan of treatment according to the findings of your exam.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
