Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have asked you a few details in order to answer this well-
1)Is the headache just 2 weeks old?Is it unilateral(on one side of head) or bilateral? Is it accompanied by nausea or photophobia? In nutshell, please describe the migraine symptoms.
2)Did you get unsteady and had a fall during a migraine episode only or was it at some other time?
3)Any other significant medical or disease history?

Please tell the above details in follow-up so that I can plan out the further management for you.

Brief Answer:
Acute therapy/Prophylaxis

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.

If the diagnosis of migraine is confirmed and symptoms are troublesome, then I suggest that you should be on anti-migraine therapy for acute attacks.Main drugs for the same are 'Triptans' and 'Ergots' besides non steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines(NSAIDS) and opioids.
Prophylactic medicines are amitriptyline, beta blocker, calcium channel blockers and anticonvulsants.
Please start anti-migraine therapy under the guidance of a physician. Also, please try to find out the trigger factors for your migraine and avoid them.

If you have further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
