What Causes Consistent Sinus Drainage, Bitter Taste In Mouth And Heart Burn?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Jan 2016
Question: I have had consistent sinus drainage for several months. Coincident with that, I have experienced a bitter taste in the mid to back part of my tongue, which sort of comes and goes. (I also have much heartburn but I really don't feel like I bring acid up into my throat. Regularly I do have to take antacid like tums, rolaids and pepcid).

My concern is the bitter taste, which I assume is associated with my sinus drainage. Since it pretty much started and continues with the sinus drainage and throat clearing, etc., does it seem probable this is the cause? Does it sound concerning to you?

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Most probably sinus drainage is the cause of your bitter taste

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your query; and most probably sinusitis causes post nasal drip and post nasal drip causes mucus drips down the back of the throat.

For your kind information the symptoms of Post Nasal Drip are
1. Needing to clear your throat.
2.Constant swallowing and clearing throat.
3.Continual sore throats.
4.Nasal and Sinus Congestion.
5.Bad Taste or Sour, Biter Metallic Taste in the Mouth- This means you are tasting sulphur compounds. These are compounds produced bacteria that cause bad breath.

I personally suggest you that you may go for the CT scan paranasal sinuses and nasal endoscopy for the further management after consulting with your ENT Specialist.
