Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: My husband has a head cold and started getting a red irritated eye yesterday. It waters and stays red...he has been using eye drops but it does not seem to help. Can you suggested anything to help ease the irritation. Is it possible for a cold to "settle" in the eye?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.

It seems from the history that your husband is having cold with redness and irritation of the eye.
Cold is usually associated with infection of the eye in the form of conjunctivitis or simple reactionary hyperaemia of the eye.

This requires treatment by the use of antibiotic eye drops, artificial tears and decongestant eye drops.

I usually use antibiotic eye drops like Moxifloxacin eye drops and artificial tears like Refresh tears eye drops.
Along with the eye drops he requires treatment for cold by the use of anticold drugs.
