Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Category 3 sprain is the most severe degree of sprain. It involves complete rupture of the ligaments, the joint is grossly unstable, there is gross swelling and pain and the surrounding tissues are also damaged.
This king of injury needs complete immobilization and a surgical repair. Healing takes 6-8 weeks followed by physiotherapy sessions to restore the joint mobility.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
MRI scan will confirm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Wrist is not a weight bearing joint. It can heal with wrist brace and rest. The complete tear of ligament needs surgical repair. You can get an MRI scan done to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope my answer is helpful.
