What Causes Burning Sensation On The Tip Of Penis While Urinating?

default
Posted on Sat, 31 Jan 2015
Question: I have a mild burning at the tip of my penis when I urinate. the burning subsides 4 or 5 minutes after urination. Also occurs when I ejaculate. I've had it for a few days. I'm 6'0" 146lbs. I've had the same sexual partner for the past 5 months and no infidelity on either end. Prior to that I had a few months go by with several different partners, though always using protection. I think this could be a UTI of some kind as my girlfriend and I have sex without a condom and she was on her period. THough I'm unsure if that would contribute. I'm also fairly certain I don't drink enough water.

Brief Answer:
UTI likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to HCM forum.
Thanks for posting to us.

I have gone through your query in detail and understand your concern.

Pain or burning sensation on urination is a typical feature of UTI. This may also be associated with other symptoms like increased frequency of urination, lower abdominal discomfort or pain, nausea etc(the last two in severe cases only).

After confirming the diagnosis, we can treat this with antibiotics like cefixime or norfloxacin for 5-7 days. Kindly see your doctor for evaluation and treatment. You may be asked for an urine test.

Meanwhile, drink plenty of oral fluids. Dehydration causes urinary stasis and promotes infection. Cranberry juice helps in faster recovery by making urine alkaline. For dysuria, you can take acetaminophen if needed.

Hope I have answered your query.
