Brief Answer:
Usually discontinue medication & provide pain and inflammation relief

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. What you have developed is called a photosensitivity skin reaction from sun exposure while on doxycycline. The rash that develops can look like a sunburn and so I have the following suggestions:

+Please report this to your doctor at your earliest convenience as it is mandatory to do so
+As the reaction itself has been caused due to substances in the medication (i.e. doxycycline), an evaluation and decision is to be taken on whether to discontinue the medication or not. I would leave this up to your prescribing doctor, but if you were my patient I would weigh the risk versus benefit and find a suitable substitute. As I do not know the reason for the prescription and the status of the condition for which doxycycline was prescribed, I cannot provide you with a suitable and honest response as to what I would do exactly
+Steroid cream for local application would be prescribed to settle symptoms of the rash
+Anti-inflammatory and pain management medications

As mentioned earlier ma'am, I would recommend a visit to your prescribing doctor at the earliest for him to take the decision on the way forward. But if at all you cannot reach him within the next 12-24 hours, then discontinue the doxycycline, and try to get your hands on a steroid cream for local application and mild pain management medication.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative ma'am. I also hope you can find relief at the earliest. Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
