What Causes Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Nov 2014
Question: I had an ultrasound on my left kidney yesterday because 1. there's blood in my urine and 2. I have a cyst on the kidney (opposite kidney had surgery for kidney cancer). This morning I woke up at 3:00 a.m. with intermittent sharp pains in the spot where she pressed the hardest with the ultrasound machine : my left kidney, left side of back under ribs. The pains were at varied intervals and not related to movement. They were so intense that I took a pain pill (Saturday and my doctor not in the office). Pain pill didn't stop pain but dulled it and I slept until 4:00 p.m. Woke without pain - but with moderate nausea. Now - mild nausea and no pain but I'm afraid it'll return.

Brief Answer:
Renal colic

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
You had left renal colic. With your history of blood in the urine .it seems clot colic.
Blood clots sometimes cause an acute renal colic attack when they form a sudden ureteral obstruction.Pain was relieved with the passage of clot.Take plenty of oral fluid at least 2 litres/day for 2 days.It will facilitate removal of any residual element.
