What Causes Blood In Urine While On Warfarin?

default
Posted on Sat, 10 Sep 2016
Question: Hello. I am XXXXXXX 48 yr female post menopausal. I had aortic stenosis and had a mechanical valve put in last September. I take Warfarin, I also have CHF, hypothyriodism, and a few minor things. NKDA.
My problem today is, I have constant frequency to urinate but when I go, not much comes out but blood. Sometimes on clots. I haven't had a period since 2008. My Dr has me on 80mg a day on Fureosimde because of my constant water retention since my surgery. My mom thinks its my kidneys or is it a UTI?

Brief Answer:
Need to see a doctor

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,

It may be a urine tract infection, but as you take Warfarin, Warfarin induced bleeding should be ruled out.

I would advise you to visit your doctor or refer to ER, they will do some examinations, such as urinanalises, INR, complete blood count, urea, creatinine, kidney ultrasound , etc to find out the cause.

Take care
